Change My Mind

Originally Published April 7, 2024

When you work for a company of a larger size, it’s easy to forget that there are a lot of parts to running a business that you don’t have to handle yourself; you delegate it to others. That all changes when you jump into the world of solo entrepreneurship. It took me a little while to recognize that I must now handle all the things I had previously been able to delegate. This adjustment took a significant change in my mindset. Sales and marketing were never on my radar, yet the business cannot survive without them. Nobody will know what you have to offer if you don’t tell them. It doesn’t mean I have to go to a hard-sell mindset, but I needed to get more comfortable talking about what I do… not an easy shift for an introvert. But I believe in what I’m doing and focus on speaking from that perspective.

The intentionality that I’m now constantly preaching is what makes mindset change possible. I use the same disciplined processes and adjust the target accordingly. In today’s world, I believe that the successful are those who can effectively change their minds when necessary.
