Disconnected
I lost internet this morning.
It wasn’t a big deal—it was only out for a few minutes—but it gave me a lot to think about. Those few disconnected moments were a wake-up call about how deeply entrenched my online presence is with my daily life. It also reminded me of two important lessons.
1. Be Ready for the Unexpected
The first thing I realized is that no internet provider is perfect, and outages happen. While this one was brief, I know there’s always the possibility of a longer disruption. That’s why I’ve learned to prepare for these moments. My hybrid approach with my Full Focus Planner has been a lifesaver. Even when I lose internet, my day doesn’t fall apart. In fact, these brief disconnects can actually help by cutting out distractions and giving me more focus. It’s a good reminder that productivity doesn’t always require being online.
2. Connection Goes Beyond Wi-Fi
The second, and more profound, takeaway is this: connection is everything—not just in business, but in life. Over the past year, I’ve seen how relationships have played a huge role in growing my business and enriching my personal life. As a task-oriented introvert, it’s easy for me to get tunnel vision and focus solely on work. But moments like these remind me to look up and prioritize the relationships that matter most.
So the next time I face an internet outage, I’ll remember it’s not just an inconvenience—it’s also an opportunity. It’s a chance to refocus on the essentials, whether that’s uninterrupted work or strengthening the connections that truly make life meaningful.
